What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community? I am currently working on a feasibility study for renovation to the 1749 Courthouse in Plymouth, MA. This building was the seat of the colonial government for many years, but has languished underused for some time now. I have spent years trying to grow my public portfolio to support my pursuit of small town New England civic projects just like this one. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to assist the town on a building so important to the history of our country, and expect it is just the beginning of more work of this kind.

What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront? Sustainability in the AEC industry continues to drive change in the way we work. I have combined this expertise with an overlay in historic preservation. Together these two interests position me to to work on the ever growing portfolio of existing buildings needing renovation. Meanwhile I am excited about my work and feel good playing a part to reduce the impact construction has on our earth while preserving the history and cultures of our past.

Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? I have been fortunate to have a number of mentors through the course of my career that have provided guidance, tutelage and opportunity. I recommend seeking out an elder that you relate to for mentorship. The benefits are unparalleled.

What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work?

I love making things, and have found workshops a great way to learn new skills while meeting new people.

Do you have a hidden talent or a surprising fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know? My not-so-hidden superpower is my ADHD, which gives me an intense curiosity to learn.
