North Quincy, MA Bozzuto, along with Atlantic Development and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), celebrated the delivery of 285 Hancock St., marking the completion of the first phase of construction at The Abby. Governor Charlie Baker, lieutenant governor Karyn Polito and mayor Thomas Koch joined Toby Bozzuto, president and CEO of Bozzuto; Mike Henehan, president of Bozzuto Development Company & Bozzuto Homes Inc; and DJ MacKinnon, president of Atlantic Development, to celebrate the delivery of the first building within the transformative transit-oriented community – the first New England region development for Bozzuto which is already well-known in Boston as a leader in property management.

The Abby is an expansive, three-building, 700,000 s/f residential community connected to the MBTA’s North Quincy Station, featuring 610 modern apartment homes, 20,000 s/f of amenities space, and roughly 50,000 s/f of ground-floor retail, which will include an onsite Target. Leasing at The Abby began in May, with the full development reaching 10% leased in under 30 days. 285 Hancock is now nearly 80% leased and welcomed its first residents to the building on May 25th.

“The Abby exemplifies what true, transit-oriented development looks and feels like, and what exceptional growth is possible for our cities, towns and local communities when we take a collaborative approach to new development,” said mayor Koch. “The Abby has already had a transformative impact in North Quincy thanks to Bozzuto and the entire project team, and I look forward to welcoming all the building’s new residents to Quincy very soon.”

The Abby’s convenient location and on-site connection to the MBTA Red Line provides residents with unparalleled access to public transportation and major thoroughfares. The Quincy T is a short 15-minute train ride to South Station and just one mile from I-93. Located in one of the most accessible neighborhoods in the city, The Abby is just a few blocks away from a variety of restaurant and retail options, parks and more.

285 Hancock is comprised of 218 apartments and ample amenities, including an expansive outdoor courtyard with pergolas, fire pits and charging stations for outdoor work; grill stations and an outdoor kitchen; a solarium featuring a library and kitchen for entertaining; and approximately 40,000 s/f of retail space reserved for an upcoming Target store.

“We are extremely proud of the community that is quickly taking shape at The Abby. To see our vision for The Abby as a lively, inspired, modern living environment resonate with so many, as evidenced by 285 Hancock’s leasing success to date, is incredibly heartening,” said Toby Bozzuto. “We look forward to celebrating many more exciting milestones at The Abby, and fully delivering this transformative, highly amenitized, residential community to the residents of North Quincy.”

The Abby’s extensive, high-end amenities package, distributed among its three interconnected buildings was thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s residents who represent a diverse mix of backgrounds, industries, lifestyles and interests. Residents of The Abby will soon also be able to take advantage of the amenities featured in 255 and 225 Hancock, including a wellness center featuring a cardio and weight room and yoga studio; a rooftop pool deck, complete with an outdoor pool, expansive sundeck and patio; a pet spa and dog run, and additional 5,855 s/f of ground-floor retail.

The second phase of construction at 255 Hancock, which is comprised of 137 apartments and a slew of amenities including a wellness center, rooftop pool and lounge area, is ongoing and scheduled to be complete in September. Phase three, which will deliver 225 Hancock, featuring 255 apartments and further amenities and retail space, will be completed in fall 2022.
