Burnes joins Harriman as principal

Auburn, ME Mark Burnes, AIA, founder of Foreside Architects, LLC has joined Harriman’s leadership team as a principal. Burnes brings a wealth of project experience to Harriman, including retail, mixed-use, senior living and corporate offices and interiors.

His design philosophy is based on careful listening, considerate analysis and insightful collaboration. His portfolio includes a variety of project delivery methods, including design/pre-selected construction manager and design/build. 

Burnes will help Harriman continue to broaden its expertise in its established market sectors while enhancing the firm’s project delivery methods. Burnes will be involved in expanding the leadership and capabilities of Harriman’s already robust retail practice. In addition, he will contribute to the strategic direction of projects in corporate, healthcare, new development, civic, cultural, and government markets.

Burnes holds a professional degree (B.Arch.) from Boston Architectural College and a B.S.I.T in industrial technology, management and design from University of Southern Maine. Burnes’ experience includes work with several local architectural firms, the City of Boston’s Public Facilities Department as architectural services manager and Gawron Turgeon Architects as a project architect and project manager prior to founding Foreside Architects, LLC in 2003. He holds certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is licensed to practice in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Florida.
