Plainville, MA DeSimone Consulting Engineers, a leading full-service engineering firm with offices worldwide, has completed the asset purchase of RRC Engineering, a Massachusetts-based structural engineering firm specializing in the design of data centers. The move further strengthens DeSimone’s offerings in the tech driven space while providing greater resources to RRC Engineering.

DeSimone is an acknowledged leader in structural engineering, forensics, facade consulting, and construction and environmental risk management, providing services for the most complex projects in the United States and around the world. RRC Engineering experts in the design of data centers and other industrial facilities throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic region is a great compliment to DeSimone’s existing portfolio and strengthens the firm’s ability to service the sector fueled by the accelerated shift to e-commerce and virtual collaboration.   

RRC Engineering was founded in 2002, specializing in data center design and commercial projects, and will continue to be led by founding principal Robert Chartrand. The firm will remain at its current address at 60 Man Mar Dr. DeSimone’s Boston team will remain at 31 Milk St.  Both offices will leverage their deep experience and maximize opportunities in this fast-growing market.

Established in 1969, DeSimone provides structural engineering services for the most complex projects around the globe. The company has been engaged in strategic expansion during the past several years, adding departments focused on forensics, facade consulting and construction and environmental risk management. 

DeSimone’s facade consulting division works from concept to completion to address exterior building facade components, including roofs, walls, windows and waterproofing. The forensics department offers customized investigations, such as buildings and equipment, complex property and liability losses, and builder’s risk. The company’s construction and environmental risk management team collaborates with DeSimone’s design engineers and forensics consultants to identify and deliver end-to-end risk management solutions that support effective decision making.
