Wellesley, MA The 21,021 s/f landmark Rotunda Building is getting a $500,000 facelift, inside and out.

The property, at the intersection of Rtes. 135 (Grove St.) and 16 (Washington St.) is managed by The Grossman Companies, Inc. and owned by affiliates of the Grossman family. Property manager Christine Stonis who is overseeing the renovation project, said work will be completed this month. In the meantime, there has been no interruption of business for tenants.  The building, constructed in 1916, is adjacent to Belclare, the residential/retail development on the former site of the Wellesley Inn.

Interior renovations, including upgraded common areas and bathrooms, and exterior brickwork and window/trim upgrades are being handled by general contractor DF Pray and Majestic Construction. The architect is Avi Shoss of SN Consulting Group, Inc.

Grossman Companies’ co-president Jake Grossman said, “Our significant investment in the Rotunda Building symbolizes our family’s excellent and long-time relationship with the town and of our commitment to Wellesley Sq.’s vitality. “ The Grossman Companies bought the property in the early 1980s. Going back further, Grossman reflected on the family’s lumber and building supplies store at 27 Washington St. from the 1960s until the early1990s, now home to the Waterstone independent and assisted living facility.

The Rotunda Building is 100% leased. Street-level tenants are Anderson Jewelers, Amarin II, J. Todd Galleries, and Rutledge Properties.
