Erland breaks ground on 2 projects

The project team of Erland Construction and Steffian Bradley Architects joined the owner and local representatives to officially mark the start of renovations to the future location of the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center at 354 Waverly St. For the new Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center project, Erland is renovating the existing office building into 8,000 s/f of clinical space - nearly doubling the center's current capacity. When completed in early 2012, the new location will feature examination rooms, patient rooms, a laboratory, private offices for patient consultations and staff conference rooms. New sprinklers will be installed throughout the building, which will be completed after-hours in occupied areas to ensure minimal disruption to current tenants. And in another ground breaking, Erland is teaming with Robert Olsen + Architects for the new two-story Science, Math, Library Center at St. Sebastian's School - built as an addition to the existing main building. When completed in early 2012, the new structure will feature eight math classrooms; two biology labs; and two science classrooms on the first floor. The second floor will contain two chemistry labs; two physics labs; a math/science computer room; a seminar room; and a reading room. In addition, the new building will have a large rotunda with high-end finishes that will be used for physics lessons. As part of this project, Erland will renovate a section of the existing main building to connect the buildings together and perform life safety upgrades to the Church on campus.
