J.K. Scanlan Company, Inc. completed the Bentley Commons 109-unit independent living facility. The project involves a complete structural reconstruction of the existing 20,000 s/f mill building as well as a 87,000 s/f new construction expansion. The historically renovated 100 year old MacMillan Building is the centerpiece of this property with a four story addition bringing modern living quarters for the residents.
Not just a senior living community, Bentley Commons is a resort lifestyle that has been designed and constructed to provide all the services that seniors need at their immediate disposal. Original beams and trellis archways are all part of the decor. There is a 1,200 s/f common area, where people can gather to watch movies, play games, or just chat. There is another activity space in the bistro, where one can also go for a sandwich or snack. If it's curling up with a good book that a resident enjoys, the fully-stocked library features a fireplace; this space also has computers and Internet access. The pub is a wide open area that has a bar with a big screen television and a pool table. The other side of the room offers seating with a fireplace for socializing. The dining room seats 85 to 100 people; the terrace, located off of the dining room, seats an additional 50 people. There are a variety of floor plans to choose from out of the handicapped-accessible private studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units. Each unit has wall-to-wall carpeting, large windows with window treatments, high ceilings, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, handicapped-accessible bathrooms, pre-wiring for cable TV and phone, private in-house cable TV station, a state-of-the-art fire system, and smoke detectors and sprinklers. Outside amenities include a bike and hike trail that runs along a small stream bordering the property. This small town feel that blends history with a charming new development is a perfect blend of old world charm with new pristine architecture.
This facility was developed in conjunction with Kaplan Development Group LLC, Andover Consulting Group, Mills Development and J.K. Scanlan Company, Inc.
