Landry/French Construction Company has broken ground on a new medical office building for Western Maine Health. Landry/French was selected as the construction manager for the new 25,500 s/f patient-centered medical home being built on the site of the former C.B. Cummings & Sons dowel mill on Pikes Hill Rd. The new building will accommodate Oxford Hills Internal Medicine and merge the primary care practices of Western Maine Family and Oxford Hills Family Practice. The Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a national model to delivery primary care that can lead to higher quality and lower costs, and improve patients' and providers' experience of care.
Designed by SMRT of Portland, the exterior is a contemporary take on downtown Norway while blending into the nearby residential neighborhood. With pitched roofs, clean lines, a simple material palette and volumes that are organized at a more residential scale. Another goal of the design is to project an image to the community that Western Maine Health medical office building is a modern, forward-thinking healthcare facility.
The building is built to the Efficiency of Maine Advanced Building Program standards. Completion is slated for early 2016.
Landry/French Construction is also renovating two operating rooms at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
