Metric Construction converts mill building into 70,000 s/f Heywood Wakefield 3 assisted living facility

Metric Construction has completed Heywood Wakefield 3. Metric provided full service construction management and general construction for the newest assisted living facility. Working with Architect, Henry Schadler Associates, Worcester Community Housing Resources and Commonweal Collaborative, Metric provided the necessary expertise to convert a vacant mill building into 70,000 s/f of finished space including 78-units of housing, a commercial kitchen, dining room, library, wellness facility, and other common areas to service the daily living needs of the residents. Congressman John Olver spent the better part of ten years working to secure funding to assist with the financing of the much anticipated project in downtown Gardner. Heywood Wakefield 3 provides100% affordable, assisted living residences and a facility to service the daily living needs of area seniors. The units were constructed in a portion of the historic Heywood Wakefield furniture manufacturing facility. The housing consisted of studio apartments and the complex offers extensive common areas. Residents will also have the added benefit of receiving assistance with activities of daily living and housekeeping. The complex is conveniently located within walking distance to amenities in the town, including the central business district, library, municipal services, and medical/hospital facilities.
