Project of the Month: J. Calnan & Assoc. and Leggat McCall celebrate topping-off of 77,000 s/f at 800 Federal St.

J. Calnan & Associates, Inc., Leggat McCall and community leaders gathered to celebrate the milestone topping-off ceremony for Schneider Electric located at 800 Federal St. Once completed, the three story complex will serve as a new research & development center for Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management with operations in more than 100 countries. . This project involves the construction of a new 77,288 s/f addition (with related sitework) to the existing 158,655 s/f building. Additionally, the team of Perkins+Will, architecture and RDK, engineering, will be responsible for the tenant improvement work totaling 235,943 s/f to both the existing 158,655 s/f building and the new 77,288 s/f addition. The project includes over 800 pieces of steel or roughly 315 tons overall. The project will also include a chilled beam mechanical system and will be applying for LEED Certification. Taking part in the longstanding tradition, J. Calnan's senior project manager, Daniel Charest, reflected on the progress of the project to date, expressing his appreciation to be involved with such an important project. "We are thrilled to play a role in this very important project. Today's ceremony is a great opportunity to look back on how far we've come in just a couple months of construction and to give thanks to everyone that has worked extremely hard to get us here. We look forward to celebrating once again at the grand opening!" Following the speakers, attendees took the opportunity to personally sign the beam, which was then lowered into place with a traditional evergreen tree. More than 100 people attended the ceremony including the project team of J. Calnan & Assoc., Leggat McCall, Perkins+Will, several subcontractors, and employees from Schneider Electric.
