Hartford, CT Robinson+Cole has added Frederick Hedberg as a partner in the firm’s construction law group. Hedberg has more than 20 years of experience handling complex construction and commercial matters for his clients, both as a transactional attorney and an experienced litigator. Prior to becoming an attorney, he practiced as a licensed civil and structural engineer for over 10 years, thereby gaining an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all phases of a construction project. Hedberg is located in the firm’s Hartford office.

“Fred’s talent as an accomplished construction litigator and counselor, together with his engineering background, will be a great addition to our firm,” said Stephen Goldman, Robinson+Cole’s managing partner. “We are very pleased and excited that Fred chose to integrate his practice with us during these unprecedented times, and we look forward to continuing to build our construction practice to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

Hedberg handles both transactional and litigation work for a wide range of clients in the construction industry, including public and private owners, developers, contractors, design professionals, manufacturers, sureties, and insurance companies.

He is an experienced litigator who represents clients in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels on all types of project-related claims and disputes to help meet their specific needs and objectives.

Hedberg is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Construction Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, serving as its legislative liaison since 2015. He has been selected to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list from 2017-2020. He is also a Fellow in the Construction Lawyers Society of America, an invitation-only construction lawyer honorary society with membership limited to 1,200 practicing Fellows from the United States and internationally.

Along with his professional activities, Hedberg is dedicated to serving his community. He is a director of the ACE Mentor Program of Connecticut, which encourages high school students to pursue careers in the architecture, construction and engineering industries. Mr. Hedberg also handles pro bono matters for Statewide Legal Services, Inc., and volunteers for various charitable organizations, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Lyme Youth Services Bureau and Special Olympics Connecticut.

Robinson+Cole’s Construction Group was recently ranked #35 in the second annual The Top 50 Construction Law Firms list published by Construction Executive.
