Samuels & Associates hires Miers as executive vice president of capital and investment strategy

Boston, MA Samuels & Associates has hired Chris Miers, JD, CRE, FRICS as executive vice president of capital and investment strategy. Miers will be a part of the executive management team and be a key driver in creating and implementing the company’s business and capital plans.

A seasoned senior-level real estate investment professional with experience leading change-management initiatives, Miers will hold primary responsibility for long-term financial strategy development and planning, strategic capital raising, and financing activities at Samuels & Associates.

“Chris is passionate about real estate and has extensive capital relationships as well as experience in a variety of capital structures that match the nimble nature of our work at Samuels & Associates. We are excited to have him join the S&A Executive Management Team and bring his well-honed investment skills in-house,” said Joel Sklar, president of Samuels & Associates. “This is a significant moment for S&A as we take a more strategic approach in leveraging the capital markets to grow the company in the Fenway and beyond.”

As EVP of Capital and Investment Strategy, Miers will collaborate across the entire organization to help formulate the strategy for the business and each of our investments and to ensure their successful implementation, driving financial performance.

Miers’ reputation and strength in strategically capitalizing real estate make him a great fit for the S&A team. Before joining S&A, Miers served as a principal at NEPC, LLC, a privately held full-service investment consulting firm, where he negotiated and structured investment products for a wide range of institutional investors. For 10 years prior, he provided strategic investment counsel to some of the world’s largest institutional investors as a principal at Bard Consulting LLC in San Francisco. Earlier, Miers worked at Babcock & Brown, a global investment and advisory firm, where he identified and invested in target markets, performed due diligence, originated new and restructured existing investments, and managed investment partner relationships. He was also in the investment management group at the Shorenstein Company, where he performed fund management services. Prior to that, he was at AMB Property Corp. (now Prologis) working in various roles, including asset and portfolio management, acquisitions, and fundraising.
