Somerville, MA Timberline has completed construction of a new headquarters for bluebird bio, a gene therapy company and the first biotech to relocate to Assembly Row. The 60,000 s/f space is located at 455 Grand Union Blvd., a soon-to-be LEED Certified Gold building owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust (FRIT).

McCord, Ci Design and BW Kennedy to transform retail space for Aspen Aerogels

Marlborough, MA McCord, a national real estate company, has leased 58,965 s/f to Aspen Aerogels, Inc. for its Advanced Thermal Barrier Center (ATBC) at 870 Donald Lynch Blvd., a former big box retail store. Aspen Aerogels anticipates occupancy of the new ATBC in the first quarter of 2023.

ART Architects wins a 2022 Bulfinch Award for work on BRIO

Dellbrook|JKS celebrates the ribbon cutting of 2Life Communities’ Brown Family House

Brookline, MA Dellbrook|JKS celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for 2Life Communities’ Harold and Ronald Brown Family House on September 14th. The Brown Family House, located in the city’s Coolidge Corner, is a new 62,118 s/f, six-story building with 62 units of affordable senior housing, designed by Prellwitz Chilinski Associates. Like all 2Life projects, the Brown Family House focuses on creating a community for its aging population by offering a variety of valuable programs and services.

TRIA names Shen managing principal

Rock Row developers to build Maine’s first mass timber office building

Westbrook, ME The first commercial office building in Maine that will primarily use cross-laminated timber (CLT) will be funded in part by a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The 150,000 s/f office building, at 100 Rock Row, will include 30,000 s/f of retail space on the first floor.

Maugel DeStefano Architects completes Phase 1 of multiphase renovations at Sturdy Memorial Hospital

Attleboro, MA Maugel DeStefano Architects has completed Phase I of a multiphase renovation underway at Sturdy Memorial Hospital’s main campus. Phase I renovations modernized the hospital’s same-day surgery suite and expanded pre- and post-operative areas. The new design increased the suite’s capacity and improved efficiency, while providing better privacy for patients and staff.

Falmouth, MA MEDCOM Architectural Group and Suffolk Construction have started renovations at Falmouth Hospital for a new 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU). The new unit is being constructed on the second floor of the hospital in the former Maternity Ward. The project encompasses 11,000 s/f, and has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate both patients and staff to deliver the highest level of care.
