What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement would be becoming the Sisters in the Brotherhood Chair. Being a part of the SIB is a huge accomplishment for me because I get to help create a safe space for other carpenter women in the Boston area.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? I always emulated my grandfather who owned his own construction business prior to retiring. He always instilled the importance of hard work, tenacity, and grit. I knew I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Within your firm, who has helped you succeed within the industry? How have they helped you? At Callahan, every layer of the company has contributed toward my success. As a project manager, my peers helped me complete successful projects for our clients.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Admitting what I don’t know and standing firm on what I do know is what keeps me empowered. I always take the opportunity to ask someone to explain something deeper if I don’t have knowledge in it.
Within your firm, who has helped you succeed within the industry? How have they helped you? I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support of my field superintendents. Not having a construction background or degree in a related field has proved challenging at times
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Starting out my Dad empowered me. He was a union carpenter for over 33 years and took great pride in the building process and what he was able to create.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Amongst many that have empowered me, under the guidance of my general superintendent at the time, I learned that asking, “What do you need from me?” was the key to success.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement in construction was the completion of our $25 million Sound at Gateway Commons project in East Lyme, CT. This was the first multi-million dollar project
What tips or advice would you offer to other women who are considering entering the construction industry? Construction is an industry of constant learning, great pleasure with a sense of accomplishment and being a team player.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? Over the last 12 months my greatest professional achievement is the direct positive impact I have been able to contribute to the people in need within affordable housing.
