Dedham, MA The SIOR New England Chapter held its annual golf invitational outing and RW Holmes Scholarship reception on October 9th at the Dedham Country and Polo Club. The day was great for fall golf with approximately 32 SIORs and guests attending the golf outing and over 40 attending the reception. Jeremy Freid, chapter president welcomed everyone prior to the best ball kick out. The sponsors for SIOR this year include ARCO, Dacon, Vantage Builders, CPM, Eastern Bank, Foxfield, 128CRE, Burns Levinson, Colliers International, Dyer Brown, Marcus Partners, RJ Kelly, Northern Bank, McLane Middleton, MG Commercial, Partridge Snow & Hahn, Sage Environmental and Conn Kavanaugh.
It was a shot gun format that started at 12pm with boxed lunch and the opportunity to warm up at the driving range. The groups were in foursomes with the chance to win prizes. The groups finished up at approximately 5:00 pm.
The evening reception included drinks and hors d’oeuvres. At the RW Holmes reception Freid thanked everyone for attending and the sponsors. Freid named the SIOR golf winners. The closest to the pin was Mike Ferrucci of Marcus Partners. The longest drive was Patrick McLaughlin. The low net foursome was Garry Holmes, Sam LeGeyt, David Ellis and David Gilkie with a total net of 58. The low gross was also Garry Holmes, Sam LeGety, David Ellis and David Gilkie at a score of 70. Each team member was awarded a gift card for the pro shop. Congratulations to the winners.
Freid then introduced Garry Holmes, SIOR and son of Bob Holmes in which the RW Holmes Scholarship is named after. The scholarship award is designed to support a rising commercial real estate junior associate who demonstrates outstanding industry potential. SIOR New England and the RW Holmes Foundation believe in investing in the next generation of industry leaders and providing them with the resources they need to succeed. The award is a monetary gift that can be applied to an SIOR education course or SIOR conference.
This is the 17th RW Holmes Scholarship that goes to a junior broker associate. This year the chapter committee had a difficult time selecting a winner as many of the candidates were truly qualified to win the scholarship. Therefore, the chapter committee announced that two real estate agents would be awarded the scholarship. Freid announced that both Jay Carnevale, senior associate of Avison Young, Boston and Tyler Capecci senior advisor of 128CRE were the awardees.
Carnevale joined Avison Young in 2021 as a sales & leasing associate with a deliberate focus on both landlord and tenant representation in Greater Boston’s suburban north market. Carnevale specializes in providing strategic advisory services and creative solutions. Previously, Carnevale served as a capital markets sales associate for Boston Realty Advisors facilitating investment sales throughout Boston’s close-in suburbs. Carnevale is a graduate of Brown University, bachelor of science, business economics. He is also a NAIOP member and is ARGUS Enterprise Certified. Congratulations to Carnevale.
Capecci, is a senior advisor at 128 CRE, specializes in tenant and landlord representation within the central 128/95 submarket. He has unique market insights and is dedicated to helping clients align their company goals and culture to meet their corporate real estate needs. Prior to joining the 128 CRE team, Capecci spent two years at Boston Realty Advisors and completed a CoOP at State Street Global Advisors and Knight Frank’s downtown leasing team in Shanghai, China. Capecci is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Boston and has completed coursework at Babson College. He is an active member of organizations such as NAIOP, ULI and REFA. Capecci has volunteered at Newton-Wellesley Hospitals’ “Hope Walks” fundraisers and enjoys playing hockey and traveling in his free time. Congrats to Capecci.
Freid then introduced the new chapter president George Paskalis, SIOR. Paskalis then thanked Freid for his time serving as Chapter president and gave him a chapter recognition award and a gift from the chapter for his years of service. Thank you Freid for your leadership.
