East Hartford, CT United Steel has named Keith Corneau as president and CEO. Ken Corneau, company founder and former president and CEO, will take on the role as chairman of the board. The announcement comes as the manufacturer celebrates 45 years in business.

East Lyme, CT Gateway Development/East Lyme, LLC, a joint venture between affiliates of KGI Properties of Providence, RI and The Simon Konover Co. of West Hartford, has broken ground on the long-awaited commercial development at Gateway Commons.

New Canaan, CT In 2013, the Carver family first approached the New Canaan Country School (NCCS) about making a gift which would be the largest to date in the school’s history and one that would significantly impact the lives of NCCS students. Fairfield, CT A fully-leased retail property located at 1485 Black Rock Tpke., has sold for $735,000, according to Jon Angel, president of Angel Commercial, LLC. The seller was 1485 Black Rock LLC, and the buyer was Hambell, LLC.

What was your company’s greatest achievement of 2018? To accommodate our accelerating growth we hired several additional staff. All have proven to be fantastic, and we feel so fortunate to have such an excellent team of motivated, bright individuals with high values and great people skills.

What was your company’s greatest achievement of 2018? The opening of Forrest Machine, an aerospace component manufacturer who constructed a brand new 55,000 s/f facility on Christian Ln. in Berlin. The project included the first 7-year tax abatement in the town’s history as well as over 70 great paying jobs there.

What was your company’s greatest achievement of 2018? CERC provided support and services to help many municipal and state entities to be better positioned and functioning to help Connecticut be competitive and be a great place to live, work and do business. We call this endeavor “Global to Local,” which focuses on inviting companies to invest here while ensuring a warm welcome by our communities.

What is the most exciting job/project for your company in 2019? Our most significant undertaking for 2019 will be bringing property tax appeals and abatements for numerous retail showrooms throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts on behalf of a national retail chain.

What Hartford Region networking opportunities does your business participate in? NAI Elite is a member of The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce and Business for Downtown Hartford. Upward Hartford, FLOW, HYPE, and The University of Hartford Entrepreneurial Center.

What was your company’s greatest achievement of 2018? Through the talent and efforts of its members, the Construction Institute had an incredible year. We are proud to be the winner of the 2018 Connecticut Entrepreneur Community’s Favorite Event Award for our annual Women Who Build Summit.

What was your company’s greatest achievement of 2018? Designed by Crosskey Architects, Noble Hartford is a signature project in our portfolio. The vision of developers Michael Frisbie and Abdul Tammo, Noble Hartford involved the construction of a unique gas station at the site of an old automobile repair shop in Hartford’s South Downtown neighborhood.
