Nearly four dozen Village Bank employees, family members and friends rallied for the American Cancer Society's Newton/Brookline Relay for Life at Forte Field in Newton raising over $10,000 to help the event realize $34,000 by the start of the Relay.
Team captain Mike Dion ensured that there was a Village Bank representative on the track at all hours of the night and early morning and — between the scores of walkers, a plentitude of workers, and stirring entertainment - the bank was well-represented and noted for its enthusiasm.
The Village Bank was also a Silver Sponsor for the event.

Among the staunchest Relay for Life supporters was Anna Derubeis of the Bank's Nonantum office, who rallied relatives and friends to raise funds in memory of her sister, Donna Mandatori.

Relay for Life brings together more than 3.5 million people across the country each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Other team members included Paula Conzo, Casey Simmons, MaryJane Gould and her daughter, Patricia Boecker and her brother, and Jeff Tucker, who brought his own team from the Newton Rotary Club.
Emily Paley, daughter of Susan and Marty Paley, joined the Relay along with other cast members of "Urinetown, the Musical" following their performance at Newton North High School on Saturday evening.
