Caritas Communities appoints Morreale and Szymanski to board of directors

Braintree, MA Caritas Communities, a non-profit provider of low-income housing and services with a mission to prevent homelessness, welcomes Marie Morreale of Corcoran Jennison Management, LLC and Jay Szymanski of The Architectural Team to its board of directors.

Morreale is the director of compliance for Corcoran Jennison Management with over 34 years of multifamily property management and compliance experience. She currently oversees all compliance and regulatory matters pertaining to Section 8, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), and programs administered through local housing authorities, and serves as the primary liaison between all local, state, and federal agencies. As recognition for her outstanding achievements, Morreale was honored with NAHMA’s National Affordable Housing Professional of the Year award. Morreale is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA). She currently holds the designations of Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) with IREM, National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP-e) and Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) with the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA), along with Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Certified Manager of Housing (CMH), and Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) with the National Center for Housing Management (NCHM).

I look forward to sharing my experience with various local, state, and federal agencies to assist the Board in obtaining the rental subsidies that are needed for these communities to thrive and be successful.”

Szymanski, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, is a principal at The Architectural Team (TAT). A skilled planner and designer of mixed-use developments, multifamily housing, adaptive reuse, and waterfront projects, Szymanski has earned a reputation as one of TAT’s most versatile architects in his 30 years at the firm. His award-winning portfolio includes Bower, a mixed-use LEED Gold and Fitwel Certified air-rights development; Lovejoy Wharf, the corporate headquarters for Converse; and the redevelopment of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony, providing 600+ LEED Gold or Passive House Certified homes. Frequently quoted in the media on topics ranging from affordable housing, sustainable design, and large-scale planning, Szymanski is recognized as a valuable resource on the industry’s most timely subjects. A Wentworth Institute of Technology graduate, he is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and a registered architect in Mass., N.H., and Conn.
