Landmark Structures completes 14-units for Caritas Communities

Landmark Structures Corp. recently completed its contract with Caritas Communities Inc. to rehabilitate a former nursing home at 24 Vine St. into a 14-unit facility for low income individuals. The $1.1 million project included the gut/rehab of the 10,000 s/f former MacKenzie Nursing Home into 14 single rooms with private bathrooms and a common kitchen area. The project encompassed all new finishes, doors, windows, roofing, siding and mechanical systems. The building utilized energy-efficient practices and meets the requirements of Mass. New Homes with Energy Star. The project received funding from the Commonwealth of Mass.Department of Housing & Community Development and the North Suburban Consortium. Architect for the project was Russell Scott Steedle & Capone Architects, Inc. of Cambridge. "We're proud to have had the opportunity to work on this affordable housing project and take satisfaction in knowing that it will provide another residential choice for low income residents in the Melrose area," said William Glasser, president/CEO of Landmark Structures.
