News: Owners Developers & Managers

Letter to the editor:

This letter is in reference to an article written by Saul Feldman that appeared in the June 3rd issue of the New England Real Estate Journal. Specifically we would like to highlight a significant inaccuracy in the story regarding the future of Georgetowne Homes, an affordable housing community located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston. The article implies that the current owners intend to convert Georgetowne from an affordable community to a market-rate community and displace the current low income, elderly and disabled residents who are not able to afford market-rents. This is inaccurate. In fact, the owners of Georgetowne Homes have been working with the city of Boston, the Commonwealth and the residents to develop a preservation program that would preserve the affordability of this very important affordable housing resource. Pam Goodman, president, Beacon Community Development LLC Editor's Note: Attorney Feldman had no knowledge what the owner of Georgetowne intended to do. He did not imply that Beacon Community Development would convert Georgetowne Homes to a market rate community.
