Message from ASM CEO - A very busy start to the spring season for ASM

It has been a very busy start to the spring season for ASM, with many great educational and networking events over the past few months.

This past week, we held a joint event with our friends from AGC at the new Puttshack in Natick. It was a great event that brought together leaders from all sides of the construction industry for networking and a round of mini golf. Congratulations to Shawn from Contractors Risk Management and Donna from New England Waterproofing for posting the best scores.

In early April, we held our 8th Annual Young Professionals Night at the Celtics. Over the years, this has been a popular event, and it was no different this year. Although the Celtics did not come out on top in the game against the Miami Heat, all those who attended enjoyed a night out and networked.

Over the past few months, we’ve had some tremendous Safety Roundtable presentations, including one by Cassidy Clairmont from Contractors Risk Management about OSHA Recordkeeping Requirements. Our friends at JM Electrical, Co., Inc. hosted this Safety Roundtable at their Innovation Center in Woburn. Thank you to both companies for making the event a success.

The Marr Companies hosted our March Safety Roundtable at their training facility in Canton. Cesar Ahumada of Sales Solutions, Inc., presented current OSHA PPE standards. Thank you to both companies for making this event a success.

Earlier in March, we hosted an in-person seminar with DCAMM. The presentation was about the DCAMM Certification/Decertification process and their evaluation system for contractors. This proved to be a very popular event with great information for both new companies trying to learn more about getting involved in public construction projects and veteran companies looking for a refresher. Thank you to all who were involved in providing a great program.

Also in March, we hosted the latest in our “Cover You’re A$$” series with a Lunch & Learn Webinar entitled “How to CYA When It Comes to Tariffs.” Atty. Michael Sams of Kenney & Sams, P.C., and ASM president Leslie Carrio of DePaoli Mosaic Company presented and led the discussion. Thank you to both Mike and Leslie for quickly putting together a great program on an ever-changing and relevant topic.

ASM also hosted a Lunch & Learn Webinar in February about the ASM/Acadia Insurance program, a benefit available to ASM member companies.

On April 16, we hosted a lunch-and-learn webinar entitled “De-Risking is a Team Sport – How AI Empowers Everyone in Project Success.” Ryan Gaiss from Document Crunch, a leading AI company that helps contractors evaluate contract language, presented the topic.

On April 29, we will host a program designed to educate our members about their needs regarding all lines of insurance. Bernard Quinlan from the Sullivan Insurance Group and Greg Pierce from NorthStar Insurance will present on this topic.

Registrations are now open for ASM’s 29th Annual Golf Tournament at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth. The tournament will be held on July 10 and usually sells out quickly, so please register early to ensure your place.

More information about our events, including registration information, can be found on our website.

As always, should you have any questions about ASM or our programming and member benefits, please email us at mail@associatedsubs.com or call our office at (617) 742-3412.

Jim Welch is the CEO/executive director of the Associated Subcontractors of Mass., Boston.
