A Tax Credit Conference recently hosted by Cherrytree Group, a diversified real estate services company headquartered in Newton, was a success, with attendees benefiting from perspectives shared by numerous authorities on the current climate in the tax credit industry.
The no-cost morning conference, titled "Energizing Tax Credits: Turning Brownfields into Brightfields" was held June 14th at The Sheraton Boston Hotel. It featured speakers Warren Kirshenbaum, president of Cherrytree Group, Kerry Bowie, director of brownfields and environmental justice, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, and Richard Cote, P.E. LSP, of Comprehensive Environmental Inc.
The speakers explained the Mass. Brownfields and Renewable Energy programs from both a government and private sector perspective, focusing on the intersection of these programs. Specifically, they discussed a tax credit model gaining popularity, wherein Brownfields sites are remediated and then outfitted with Renewable Energy infrastructure - either in addition to other improvements or as a stand-alone facility - effectively turning them "From Brownfields into Brightfields."
"It was a pleasure to host our first Tax Credit Conference," said Kirshenbaum. "The topics addressed proved quite timely, with all speakers and the comprehensive information provided making quite an impact on those in attendance."
