I was involved in a precedent setting decision wherein I helped defeat a $125 million whistleblower case against my client, a ready-mix producer. When I first joined JDL in February 2023, I worked as a PC on a 120,000 s/f lab renovation in Waltham, Mass. This was a multi-phase project, which included intense planning and coordination. Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? I have always had a high appreciation for architecture, but it was not until a professor encouraged me to get involved in ASHRAE and to take courses in HVAC design that I found a way to bridge my engineering knowledge to the AEC industry.

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry? I think that my attention to detail and need to know how things go together is the driving force behind my success. I see a building and think of it as a series of puzzles that must fit neatly together. During the design phase, I think a well-designed space should not only be aesthetically pleasing
Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? The inspiration for me to join the AEC industry stemmed from my dad. His nearly 24-year tenure at Cresa Boston intrigued me. Our dinner table conversations often revolved around his career, projects and insights. His connections are what paved the way for me to enter the industry, eventually finding my home at JDL Corporate Interiors.
What are your goals for the future? My goals for the future are to continue to grow within JDL Corporate Interiors and take on more responsibility as a woman in a leadership role. I hope to pave the way, not only at JDL but within the AEC industry, for younger women who aspire to be project managers.
What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry? My career in the AEC industry started six years ago as an assistant project manager. Coming in with little knowledge of the industry, I was blown away by how nice, helpful and supportive people in industry are. I find constant encouragement

Being a part of a primarily male industry has been challenging, but forging connections with strong, smart, and kind women has been inspiring. By highlighting Women in Construction annually, it encourages young women to explore other employment avenues that may have seemed off limits beforehand;

I have a great team and supportive environment that allows me to really ask questions, step outside of my comfort zone at times and challenge myself which has all impacted my success so far. What is your favorite / most beneficial part of Women in Construction week? I have been in the industry for many years and in different roles, from customer service to residential project manager and now sales. My favorite part of WIC week is that I can see women grow
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My most notable project is with Dartmouth College’s new housing initiative. As their owner’s representative, I support the college’s 10-year vision of bringing 1,000 new beds to students, faculty, and staff.

Although I began my career in the AEC industry, my natural career growth resulted in being repositioned as a consultant on business profitability improvement, organizational structure, and business expansion, including acquisition and site development.

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry?< Growing up with a successful mother in insurance/investment sales and a father in the plumbing business had a way of crafting my interests and pointing me towards sales and business development.
What are your goals for the future? As general manager, my goal for the future is to continue to assist our organization, while handling multiple tasks, motivating others, and striving for perfection. As the industry evolves, I plan to keep expanding my knowledge while building strong relationships along the way.
