Within your firm, who has helped you succeed within the industry? How have they helped you? I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support of my field superintendents. Not having a construction background or degree in a related field has proved challenging at times
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Starting out my Dad empowered me. He was a union carpenter for over 33 years and took great pride in the building process and what he was able to create.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Amongst many that have empowered me, under the guidance of my general superintendent at the time, I learned that asking, “What do you need from me?” was the key to success.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement in construction was the completion of our $25 million Sound at Gateway Commons project in East Lyme, CT. This was the first multi-million dollar project
What tips or advice would you offer to other women who are considering entering the construction industry? Construction is an industry of constant learning, great pleasure with a sense of accomplishment and being a team player.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? Over the last 12 months my greatest professional achievement is the direct positive impact I have been able to contribute to the people in need within affordable housing.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? Being promoted to senior project manager. Since starting at Acella 10 years ago, I’ve been promoted from administrative assistant to assistant project manager, to project manager, and now to senior project manager.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? When I learned what it was I could do as an architect in a larger team, to create buildings that speak to people, buildings that inspire, buildings that assemble people, I was hooked.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? I was truly excited when a volunteer opportunity presented itself on a local level in the last year. I was able to work closely with an elementary school in town to help them re-envision
What tips or advice would you offer to other women who are considering entering the construction industry? It can be easy to doubt yourself when entering a field largely populated by men; my advice for any women who are considering entering the construction industry
