What are you doing differently in 2021 that has had a positive impact on your career? As we all learned to pivot, multiple times in 2020, and now into 2021, I have enjoyed the slower pace. I pay more attention to the needs of others, listen more intently and am much more aware of the immediate needs
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? We’ve had so many great projects continue this year, despite the pandemic, it’s difficult to pick one, however the most significant area of growth that so closely aligns with our corporate mission
What was your greatest achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? Taking our company from a -13.9% YTD EBIT May 2020 to a 5.53% YTD by Dec 31, 2020 with the highest booked sales and invoiced sales numbers in the company’s history and doing so during the most uncertain
What are you most looking forward to post-pandemic? Vantage Builders has a great company culture and I’ve missed that during the pandemic. Conference calls and video calls definitely help keep projects moving forward, but they don’t replace the buzz and excitement of an office full of people
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? I’ve learned from many mentors, managers and coworkers throughout my career. Some have taught me the right way to do things and others… let’s say I’ve learned from their mistakes!
What are you most looking forward to post-pandemic? The pandemic has had such a big impact on every aspect of everyone’s lives. What I’m most looking forward to are the small things, just the return to normalcy. That will be different for each person and that’s what’s nice about normalcy.
strong>Why should women consider a career in construction? Well, why shouldn’t they? Women can do whatever they put their minds to. That’s an ideal I’ve learned from a young age. It might not be as easy but it’s definitely worth it in the end.
Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? All of the people who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. As a 22 year old, petite, blonde I didn’t think that anyone could ever take me seriously in this industry.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? This past August we were approached by our long term client Northeastern University to complete a COVID-19 testing lab fit-out project on their Burlington Campus.
What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? As a geotechnical practice leader, my greatest professional achievement has been helping lead several climate resilience projects in the City of Boston to help prepare for the effects of climate change and sea level rise.
