All of you are well aware of the presidential election coming up on November 3rd. But I bet that a far smaller number know that October is Careers in Construction Month. The confluence of these two events provides a reminder of just how big a role construction plays in the national economy. In recent years, the focus in our industry has been on trying to find enough qualified employees to meet booming demand. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has paused that narrative, it hasn’t stopped it.

Cambridge, MA Nauset Construction completed the transformation of the historic 1870 Whitney, Lucretia and Henry Building into a 67-key boutique luxury hotel located in Central Sq. 907 Main developers Sean Casey, LLC and Hay Creek Hotels hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 23rd to celebrate its opening with city, neighborhood and business representatives in attendance, including city manager Louie De Pasquale, police commissioner Branville Bard, and Mike Monestime, executive director of the Central Sq. BID.

Quincy, MA BOND Building Construction, Inc. has received a Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), New England Chapter Project Achievement Award for the South-West Middle School. BOND Building accepted the award at the 2020 CMAA-NE Mark H. Hasso Project Excellence and Scholarship Awards Program, held virtually on October 2nd. The 26th annual event was dedicated to the life and legacy of the late Professor Mark H. Hasso. “We are proud to be a part of the CMAA New England Project Achievement Awards and grateful for this recognition,” said Frank Hayes, president of BOND Building.
