Wayne J. Griffin Electric completes services at 315,000 s/f Roger Putnam Vocational Technical High School

Wayne J. Griffin Electric Inc. has completed the electrical installation work at the new Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical High School. The new 315,000 s/f institution replaces the existing school constructed in 1938 and includes standard and special needs classrooms, two food service areas, administrative offices, plus labs and shops for 22 vocational programs, including five new course offerings. A high-performance green school, the facility includes superior energy performing mechanical systems, waste stream reduction, minimized water consumption, increased use of natural light throughout the building, and improved indoor air quality. The Griffin Electric team was responsible for installing a 4000-amp service within the school, in addition to an energy-saving Lutron ECO system for lighting control. Furthermore, the crew installed systems within the greenhouse, as well as new systems for emergency life safety with diesel generation, addressable fire alarm, and theater lighting and rigging. Contruction manager, Consigli/Morganti Joint Venture led the project to its completion; Arcadis-US, Inc., served as the owner's project manager. The architect was Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc. and electrical engineer was TMP Consulting Engineers, Inc. Senior project manager, Michael Quinn, and foreman, Dan Sullivan, led the Griffin Electric team. Project funding was made possible through a grant from the Commonwealth of Mass.' School Building Authority.
