What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? As I approach the 10- year mark as an attorney, I note a recent professional milestone in my career, winning an emergency injunction. The case required appearing in court to defend my client against a commercial property landlord who was attempting to take possession of and sell my client’s personal property on the leased premises prior to the expiration of the lease.
What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? I am most proud of a recent retail tenant I represented. Their business has not only thrived in their new space, but it has also spawned a thriving community that surrounds the business. Commercial real estate professionals play a pivotal role in the communities we serve, and sometimes we are fortunate to play a role in building our communities up while bringing them closer together.

This group is broader than you might think, including young professionals, educators, first responders, and retail workers.
What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? I’m most proud of delivering the first phase of infrastructure and the first residential building-Amaya-at the Suffolk Downs redevelopment on time and on budget. If you could give advice to someone just starting out in your field, what would it be? One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in commercial real estate is the value of introducing yourself. Relationship- building is at the core of this business, and it starts with making connections with people at every level, whatever their title or experience may be.
If you could give advice to someone just starting out in your field, what would it be? My biggest piece of advice to someone starting out is to always ask questions and be curious. There were a lot of industry- standard architectural terms and processes I didn’t understand or know about when I was just starting out - and that’s OK!
What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? One of the projects I’m most proud of was helping a nonprofit Catholic high school, Notre Dame Cristo Rey, acquire a new campus in Methuen. What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? Graduating from UC Berkeley in 2009 into a great recession, I faced the challenge of starting my architecture career in a volatile job market. What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? The biggest challenge any young broker must overcome is the fear of failing. In my time as a broker since graduating from college in 2020, the Greater Boston market has experienced its challenges. Hi- rise downtown towers and suburban office parks were no longer the epicenter where people went daily to work.

They had operated a family business there for 20 years, retreading tires. I negotiated a deal with a tenant that far exceeded expectations. The new tenant runs power restoration projects across Maine and was delighted with the space.

What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? A major challenge I faced was a complex renovation and new construction project with multiple stakeholders and unclear goals. Aging infrastructure and inaccurate existing drawings added difficulty. To align the team, we held a stakeholder workshop that fostered communication and set a shared direction.
